The mornings are critical times because they play a great role in determining how the rest of the day pans out.
We haven’t grasped just how important a goal it should be to wake up every morning feeling enthusiastic about the new day. This helps to position your body and mind to achieve so much in the rest of the day.
Sometimes, we wake up feeling tired and sluggish. When this is the case, it often turns out that the same disposition is sustained for the better part of the morning and sometimes through the entire day.
Why Do You Wake Up Tired in The Morning?
Granted, health conditions and pregnancy are expectedly reasons for a heavy or sluggish feeling in the morning, even after long hours of sleep.
But when neither of these is the case, what could then be the culprit?
Studies have shown that how we wind up the day goes a long way to influencing how the next morning starts out.
So, it is important to end the day with healthy and favorable practices that can positively influence how you kickstart your new day. Garbage in, garbage out. Make some sense, yea?
Most of the time, the problem, just like the solution, begins with us.
We are responsible for this by the choices we make regarding our eating habits, sleep patterns, and even our mental state.
Hacks To Help You Begin Your Morning Strong
1. Have an Early or Light Dinner
Your food intake has a lot to do with how your body functions and feels.
Taking dinner early enough is an all-time proven way to expedite digestion, allowing for better sleep and blood circulation. An early dinner is one you have by 7 pm at most.
If you must have dinner later than 7 pm, maybe due to a very tight schedule or whatever reason, then discipline yourself to have a little portion.
A small wrap of wheatmeal and okra soup or a little serving of boiled sweet potatoes and tomato sauce are great ideas. Just make sure the quantity is little so you don’t overburden your system.
The aim is not to eat till you’re full, but just good enough.
2. Choose Dinners That Pro-Digestion

The essence of food is not for it to remain in our body but for it to be broken down, the relevant nutrient absorbed, while the waste is removed.
When this process is slowed down or incomplete, it can impact our body in a way that is not beneficial.
We should consciously see to it that our body gets certain foods, fruits, or vegetables that speed up digestion.
The faster digestion is, the better our body absorbs nutrients, providing you the needed nourishment and agility that is necessary for your day-to-day.
So, to wake up sharp and light, you should be intentional about having edibles that aid digestion such as fruits, vegetables, and fiber-rich food.
Some of these foods include chicken breasts, fish, salads, eggs, seafood, fruits & vegetables.
3. Get Proper Sleep & Rest Your Mind
The body utilizes sleep as the opportunity to rest and recuperate from all manner of stresses. This is non-negotiable for sustaining a healthy body and mind.
When we do not get adequate rest and sleep, we can expect to wake up with our bodies complaining and dragging us back.
Good sleep is gotten free of noise, piercing lights, and on a firm mattress that allows for proper comfort.
A minimum of 6 hours of sound sleep is good enough to get the body well-rested.
Note, however, that the goal should not be to only get the body to sleep, but to also put your mind to rest. This is a common cause of waking up drained even after hours of what is supposed to be good sleep.
Did you know that you can be asleep while your mind remains busy?
You can help your mind find rest by getting rid of anxiety and worrisome thoughts. One way to do this is by practicing meditation, practicing gratitude & words of reaffirmation.
This is when you choose to focus on the things that are working in your life, this could be a healthy body, means of living, family, or good friends. You appreciate these things and then say hopeful words to yourself.
By the time you are done, you would see how your mind is more at ease.
Reading a book or listening to very soft music that is soothing for bedtime might also be a hack to putting your mind to rest mode.
4. Avoid Soda & Artificially Sweetened Drinks

Don’t we all now know that soda drinks are not a great choice for our bodies?
Now imagine loading your body with that before bedtime. Scary!
To have a moderate intake of these kinds of drinks before a serious body activity is one thing, but to have it and go to bed afterward is outrightly bad for sleep and your health.
When you put processed sugar and carbonated drinks into your body before going to bed, you are literally shooting yourself in the leg because that is going the opposite direction to good health. Your body struggles to break down all that and sleep can be seriously distorted.
5. Create a Visual Plan For The Next Day

Your inner environment or subconscious goes a long way to determine the experience of your physical body.
It’s natural to be more agile when you’re hopeful or enthusiastic about something you have planned out.
A good way to end your day in preparation for a better day is to meditate about and visualize the good things you want to achieve the next day. Take that mental picture to dreamland.
This helps to put your mind in a state of anticipation so that when you wake up, you have a sense of purpose because you already know what you need to do.
Purpose strengthens the bones and births motivation. When you have something worthwhile to look forward to, your body tends to cooperate with you.
Going to bed with the right mental config will surely play a role in helping you wake up strong.
